That's about the only advantage I see, they have a great team, but the Russians are just great. They're reigning back-to-back world champions and who they beat in the Finals the past 2 years? Canada and in 08', it was in Canada if I'm not mistaken. They're ranked #1 in the world over #2 Canada and have a pretty loaded roster, pretty those 3 I just mentioned were the top 3 finalists for the MVP last year. Canada is good for sure, but Russia is the favorite, even in Canada.
And nope, I think it happened right after I posted that, might have missed it but I checked Yahoo before I posted it. It's now 24...7 gold(to Germany 5), 7 silver (to 6) and 10 bronze(to 5), it's pretty impressive.
I did read this article earlier though, kind of interesting, not sure if it makes all that much sense to me.

Do you feel any differently now Biggin? The Russians beat a fine Czech squad yesterday, while Canada after barely surviving the Swiss gets outhustled by the Americans. Luckily the 2 will meet to decide in the quarters (assuming Canada handles Germany as they should),and even better being that 1 of those 2 will be bounced after the clash:2thumbsup:

One of the things that I said way back in my Almost Time thread was that a great goalie can carry a team, especially in a short tournament. Yesterday's win showed the Americans that they can beat anybody in the world, and that quiet confidence really became even more evident yesterday. Canada does indeed have more talent, but goalkeeping can sure neutralize that no doubt.

Looks like we are getting paybacks on Kim Martin and Sweden,up 5-1 and headed toward a gold-medal showdown with Canada on the women's side (provided Canada bests Finland).

Well so much for that lead, Germany picked up 5 medals to our 0 so far today, it's 24-21...now tied in Gold and they lead 9-7 in Silver.

Pretty sure we nabbed a silver in that ice dancing like you said, so it's 25-21 as of now. Really about hoping the Germans slow down and not get another day like today(yesterday)...just got worried when I seen they picked up that many in a day to close the gap like that. I'm thinking we'll still win like you said, actually no doubt we will IMO, but not by much. I want that sweep and lead in G,S and B medals when it's all said in done...that's what I'm hoping for.![]()
80+years of waiting in Nordic, and the Americans break through first with Spillane in individs with a silver, and now the team nabs a silver too. Very proud moment for the USA.
